Fire

The Fort St. James Volunteer Fire Department has a long history of serving the community since the mid 1940's. Fort St. James was protected by a group of men, utilizing a home built trailer to carry their fire equipment. Fire Chief Carnell, the Department's first Fire Chief, led the group in 1949 - a one car garage in the same spot as the current hall. They protected the community with a 1949 Ford truck with a homemade 1000 gallon water tank and a pump.

The Fort St. James Volunteer Fire Department (FSJVFD) has come a long way since then. Our dedicated firefighters still work hard to keep residents safe. FSJVFD is comprised of one paid Fire Chief, and 23 committed volunteers.
