Hello to all the residents of Fort St James, Nak’azdli Whut’en, Regional District Area C, Tl’azt’en, Binche and Yekooche.
We continue to have some spread of the virus in BC, but as the graph shows, the numbers are trending downwards. On Friday (February 19), the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 disease in the province was at 217, the lowest number in the past three months, and the number in critical care is also dropping. The total number of new cases in the whole area covered by Northern Health was only 25 on Friday. As far as the communities around Stuart Lake are concerned, there have been no positive cases confirmed since February 8. Province wide, more than 500 cases of the COVID variants from UK, South Africa and other countries have been detected, including 2 cases of the UK variant in remote Indigenous communities. (These variants are more contagious, but do NOT seem to result in more severe illness.) For full letter click here.
