2017 Business Façade Improvement Program
The appearance of a community can create a sense of appreciation and civic pride for citizens, and make a place more attractive for visitors to that community. We believe that the building frontages of the business community of Fort St. James should be a reflection of how our town is valued by its citizens, the character and quality we uphold, and the quality of life we welcome.
The District of Fort St. James is pleased to provide the Business Façade Improvement Program to give monetary assistance as an incentive to buildings/ business owners, to improve the character and physical appearance of their buildings, while allowing them to assert their identity. Businesses can be eligible for up to $5000 of matching funding to implement facade and signage work. A total of $20,000 is earmarked to be granted for 2017.
Eligible properties include those on Stuart Drive East, Stuart Drive West, Birch St, Douglas Ave. and Hwy 27 South.
New to the program is a deadline of April 28th for the 2017 year.
Owners of Commercial and Industrial properties may be eligible for tax incentives for development of new buildings or revitalization of existing buildings. The District of Fort St. James Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaw allows owners wishing to develop their properties to apply for exemptions on taxation of the new improvements over a five year period. Please contact us for further information or read the bylaw linked above.
