Fort St. James has seen a population increase from 2011 to 2016 of 5%. 2015 data reported that 1,776 people live in Fort St. James. A total of roughly 4,500 people live in the surrounding rural areas, including Tl’az’ten, Nak’azdli, Takla and Yekooche First Nations, as well as the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako Area C.
This increase in population has lead to a construction and renovation boom for both residential and commercial properties.
