The District of Fort St. James regulates business licences through the Business Licencing Bylaw. All businesses operating within District boundaries must purchase and maintain a municipal business licence. Business licences can be purchased seasonally and range from $25 – $200 for six months.
In 2011 there were 419 business licences registered with the District of Fort St. James, up 8% from 2010. A total of 44 new businesses took on registration, nearly doubling the number of new licences in 2010. New businesses licences made up 11% of all businesses registered in 2011.
