Fort St. James boasts a very walkable downtown. Downtown Fort St. James is a perfect little gem hiding in the hills of Northern BC.
Easy strolling will bring visitors from their place of accommodation to downtown businesses including a variety of banking institutions, shopping destinations, food and restaurant services, a grocery store, a hair salon, spa, gas station, pharmacy, hardware store, and greenhouse. From downtown it is just another 5 minute walk till one finds themselves on the shores of beautiful Stuart Lake in Cottonwood Park – the perfect spot for a sunny picnic and afternoon swim! Or enjoy the views from Spirit Square, the heart of Fort St. James.
If you are camper or RVer, you can choose from two BC Provincial sites, a municipal site (with Sani-station), and private campground. There are many provincial recreation sites to be found in the forests as well.
For indoor accommodations, there is a motel and hotel, resorts, lodges and B&Bs in the area.
